Sharing is Caring: A Guide to Platform Trial Designs with Shared Control Arms
Megan E. McCabe, PhD
Watch the Recording
Platform trials evaluate multiple interventions against a shared control arm under an overarching study infrastructure, with adaptive design features allowing for experimental interventions to enter and exit throughout the study. These features of a platform trial can increase efficiency in evaluating experimental interventions compared to the traditional framework in which each intervention would be evaluated in separate two-arm randomized clinical trials, but this design also presents unique challenges and considerations. This presentation will highlight key statistical and operational considerations through specific examples, discuss regulatory guidance on these topics, and provide actionable knowledge for the design of platform trials.
