How do we improve the experience of seriously ill patients and their families? This is a big, persistent challenge that has shaped the field of palliative care and motivated Dr. Schenker's career. In this talk, Dr. Schenker will use stories to illustrate this challenge, highlighting unanswered questions and potential solutions that she has addressed in her research. She will end with ideas for leveraging clinical, educational, and research resources at Pitt and  UPMC to elevate patient voices and improve the future of serious illness care.
