Non-Hispanic Black adults are disproportionately burdened by cardiovascular disease compared to their White counterparts - a disparity attributed to longstanding differences in socioeconomic status between the two groups. However, the overrepresentation of Black adults in lower socioeconomic groups can be linked to the lasting impact of decades of inequitable US policy decisions. This presentation will examine the policy environment as a key determinant of Black-White disparities in cardiovascular disease.
