This presentation outlines the contributions and selected research on Peer Specialists working in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Peer Specialists are Veterans with serious mental illness who are trained and employed by VHA to use their experience to help other Veterans with serious mental illness. The presentation will define Peer Specialists, describe their history in VHA, and present selected research on their impacts.
