In the first half, Dr. Jhamb will discuss the therapeutic challenges in addressing symptom burden in patients with end-stage kidney disease on hemodialysis. She will present the rationale and design of TĀCcare trial. This ongoing, multi-center, randomized controlled trial is testing the effectiveness of a collaborative care intervention delivered using telemedicine to improve patient-centered outcomes. Subsequently, Dr. Yabes will discuss statistical guidelines for handling intercurrent events (ICE) – post-randomization events that may alter the interpretation of the results. He will describe strategies for handling ICEs and how these were applied to the TĀCcare study.
