Adverse pregnancy outcomes are still common in women with gestational diabetes mellitus despite universal screening and frequent use of medications. However, these risks are not universal and significant variation in clinical outcomes is likely a reflection of underlying pathophysiologic heterogeneity in this population. In this talk, I will explore the clinical and metabolic heterogeneity in pregnant women with gestational diabetes and present a novel treatment approach where therapy is aligned with a woman’s individual metabolic profile.
