Online communities are an increasingly popular source of peer support among individuals with alcohol and substance use concerns. Online peer engagement can complement in-person support and clinical care in this population, though specific mechanisms of online support leading to health outcomes remain poorly understood. This presentation provides an overview of emerging evidence and novel methodological approaches to inform new understandings in this milieu.
