Standardized collection of patient reported outcomes and social determinants of health in the electronic medical record is important for improving the management of individual patients, supporting system-level interventions, and enriching analyses of medical record data. This lecture will review some recent improvements in collecting these data at UPMC, as well as research related to these efforts.
